Got the bed on, had to do some adjusting but its coming together. I did find a new trick for taking rattle can primer or rattle can paint off, EZ off oven cleaner. It took the black primer off this old truck and left the original paint. Sprayed it on for a few minutes and scrapped it off with a Bando spreader. If you don't want to scrape it off use a mit and soap and water. Took me about 30minutes to do one whole side of the truck.

Put a offer on a 2007 6.0/4l80E with harness hope I get it, I'll put it in the truck. If I don't I still have the SBC 396 from my Chevelle I can drop in it. I'll change the cam in it so its more streetable. I'll let you guys know.

My vote is for the 396! That motor belongs in your truck!...either way, good luck and keep the pics coming

I hear ha. I was thinking that new stuff is kinda nice cause you can drive it all the time. Didn't take my offer so I'm not getting the 6.0, going with the old Chevy small block

Got the fenders, hood and bed sides sealed. Gonna try to get the doors and cab this next week. The only problem I'm having is the fenders have a big gap at the bottom, like the cab is tilted forward or the radiator's to high. I replaced bushings on the cab and radiator, wondering if I got the wrong bushings for one of them. One more thing, the motor runs like it has to much timing. I haven't pit a light on it yet but it just wont idle down unless I regard the timing. When I do back off timing the motor starts making a screeching sound. Its not the belt and I've checked for vacuum leaks. Any ideas?

Fast idle or choke not stuck on the carb is it ? Besides a vacuum leak ,off timing ,wired wrong? Not really sure.

It had an edelbrock on it when I first got it, but stuck my old hp750 on it. It'll be over carbed but got it to idle better still screeching sound. Almost like the flex plate it coming in contact with starter.

Bendix may not disengage fast enough? And hits on start up.

Haven't worked on the motor lately, been trying to get the paint done. I have the hood and bed sides done next will be the doors fenders and cab. I decided to go with the factory white. I know it sounds plain, but I'm giving it a patina look. I rubbed thru the paint into the primer in places and will probably go with satin finish. I want to give it the olé shop truck look. It might be cool or look like a big mess.
