new car

Ok so I'm not getting a brand new car, but its new to me. Going to look at a 2005 BMW 325i tomorrow, he's asking $3500 it has 107,000 miles on it. I need a cheap commuter car, this driving a 4x4 diesel to Vegas everyday is getting old, and its wearing my truck out. Been looking for something I can run into the ground and throw it away when I'm done. Never had a German car but I think with the way cars are these days I should be able to get another 100,000 miles out of it. Wife's caddy has 219,000 and still runs good, but don't trust it any further than around town. Looked at Chevy, ford, dodge and Japanese cars but everybody wants $5000 for it and they have 150,000 miles or more. Just think I'll be driving a BMW, I might have to pour my beer in a glass to show my sophistication. Hahaha hell if it weren't for spell check I couldn't even spell that word.

BMW's are fantastic cars...as are most German autos! Had a Mercedes a few years ago..Loved that car! I understand your situation with the mileage,...doing the same with my truck...unfortunately I don't have much choice!..Good luck with your search and I hope it all works out!

I also like European cars but after working side by side in a BMW/Mercedes dealership, I found the Beemers to be quite over-engineered and many repairs are a bit more complicated than they needed to be. The do drive nice and I love the solid feel they have.
My quest for cheap transportation landed me a 2003 Grand marquis for $900. It needed tires and a windshield, so about $1500. It has some slight hail damage on the hood but only had 110,000 miles and gets an easy 25 mpg running 80, and 27+ running 65.

Got the car, had a mis.and it looked like someone might have lived in it. Not really, but after 5 hours of cleaning, a new set of plugs and some fresh oil it seems to run good. Might need new struts not sure. WB's right about things being over engineered, I thought a light was staying on from a short but it waits to go out when going into sleep mode, whatever that means. I like the feel of the ride it does seem solid. I'll take a couple pictures in the next couple says.

Might need to replace the CCV which is the pcv. Instead of a $5 part its a $100 part and you have to take the intake off... to save time anyway. I think I will try to bypass or make something different, theres got to be a simple fix.
