G M Caliper Mounting Bracket

I bought all new caliper mounting brackets , slide pins and all hardware rebuild brakes again on this 2008 van. They make caliper bracket now coated which is big plus. I had to drill out holes for slide pins , not even close to right size. This is got be on of worst brake set ups ever seen. Read lot articles set up no good where their snow and have salt from roads seize up pins. I have tried many things over years. I can't get a year with out rebuild. Van on road daily for delivery.

Drive it like you stole it'

Sometimes I wonder if the engineers are secretly laughing at us with the problems we go thru! My 07 Dakota kept throwing the rear drum shoe off the wheel cylinder pin cause there's no slot..the shoe just rests against the pin so when you do a panic stop, which does happen occasionally, it would blow the wheel cylinder! The only clip holding the shoe on is a flat type piece of steel, bent so it is supposed to keep pressure against the shoe to hold it against the backing plate...But oh nooooo...doesn't hold even with a new clip..soooo I went into my brake stash and found the old type spring and clip found on all the older style drum brakes and proceeded to drill a hole and install the pin and spring assembly....viola' no more problems after 3 fixes! Why couldn't the designers figure that one out!
I guess Ron, that you'll just have to make that a yearly repair just to keep your brakes working!...sad huh?

Me give up? NEVER!
