390 FE

i am leaning on the idea of building an 390 ford but i have found some stroker kits that from from 416-434-445  but i think i may stay at 390 with just an overbore. the oll comet will run plenty good with a built 390 4 speed

one of my buddys here had a built 390. it was no dog scooter. one of the quickest street cars around here at the time. 73 i think it was when he built it. put it in a 68 mustang coupe. i never drove it but i rode in it and i ran it with my dads torino. 351 cleveland. it was plum fummy.he just sat there a bit then took off. went by me like a dang rocket. i say go for it.even a built 289 will push the heck outa that comet.

Lotsa good choices. Sticking with the stock 3.78 stroke is the most economical. You can step up to a 3.98 410/428 crank. OEM 410-428 crank's are $200-450 in various stages. The 445 kits are pretty good too. Find a cheap set of early iron heads (C4's) unless you really want aluminum. FE parts can get expensive so finding the best core engine with parts you want is worth the search.
