pontiac 400 with 350 heads

My 75 pontiac trans am with 455 is rusted solid will not turn an x6 heads are all rust under the covers . I have a 1974 400 but broke almost every exh bolt in the heads . I have a set of 70 350 heads . How would they work on that 400 . and the 455 cam looks good can i use it . I have a 67 manifold with carter quad . I want to do the minimum to build this 400 gaskets timing chain thats about it .

Lets see here 1974 400 has fairly Flat top Pistons and the 1970 350 heads are 72cc Chambers but have smaller Intake valves 1.96/1.66 . The 400 2bbl used the 1.96/1.66 valves as well . With the Auto store Head Gaskets this 400 would push 9.5.1 C/R or maybe a bit more . My Friend had a 1970 Firebird with a 400 Combo much Like this but with a 2bbl Headers and a slight Larger then stock Cam . It ran way stronger then you would ever think it could .

As for reusing that Camshaft from your 455 ? If it really mics out good and all the Lifter Bottoms are Like new . You could but mark all the Lifters as they are removed from there bores . That 1967 Iron Intake will also work but the AFB might need an adapter to work with a Shaker Hood for a Trans Am . Also use the 455 HEI if it checks out .

I cannot think to leave you now . For that alone I still fight on .
