70 nova not charging

My 70 nova is not charging up the battery cry it has the alternator with the small plug and charge reg box on the body . I changed that reg box and had my alternator spun test at auto zone it passed the test . bolted it back on still not charging . from what i can see the wires look ok . one old fixer upper told me to convert it to the inside reg alternator . should i do that ? how do i go about switch it ? I changed both bat cables first thing think that would have fixed it .

You might be better off with a one wire alternator . They charge as they turn with a built in regulator . You can buy one from Summit or Jegs .

I cannot think to leave you now . For that alone I still fight on .
