RE: my 1988 chevy truck rebuild.

Hey guys I will need help hooking up my kick down for this.
Now originally it was ran through the ECU but I removed all that. So. I decided the easiest way was to get the switch and bracket from a 73-87 truck.but the problem with that is the petal is bent the opisite way.
And if I use the entire petal and bracket( witch bolts up to the firewall fine) my cable is off by 6 inches or so.
I will try to get pics to help out with my explanations.

Well the water/gas problem is happening again !!!!! Getting pretty pist here. I am going to try to run it from a jerry can on a short hose. And if it runs great I am yanking out this fuel tank and going with a fuelcell

if the cap is sealing good then that's out. What I'm thinking is if the exhaust is close enough then maybe the heat from that is warming up the fuel tank enough to cause condensation to form in the tank. just thinkingconfuse

Need pictures of the tank location, and ones around the area. Is the vent tube in the right place? Is the seal good around the sending unit ? A fuel cell will shorten your trip time.

Anywhere that water can stand on top of the tank, will give you this problem. You must have some kind of a leak area that is not sealing.

Yeah the only place I can see is the sending unit. But its new and new rubber around it as well.

Did you put a light coat of vasoline on the gasket, or sealer as you installed it. It has to be just right to seal. And, if it was a O-ring. Was it the proper thickness ?

I mention that, because a long time ago...(in a far off land) hahaha, I got one similar, and that was the problem. The guy put it on dry, thought it was sealed. But it kind of wrinkled the O-ring just enough to let standing water on the top, drip into the tank. I got a new O-ring, and coated it lightly with rtv sealer, and while is was wet, installed it. It gave enough slip to slip the lock ring in place without moving the O-ring.

Well I took it apart and put a little bit of grease on the Oring. And the reinstall and then also put some all on top to stop water from pooling around the sending unit hope this stops it.

Well broke the starter the last time I tried to start it. So I can't check to see if the trans works. I have been having a couple of little problems with the truck and divided it was time to stop work on it for a bit. So I towed it behind the shop for now.

Yeah it runs and everything he took it off the road and bought a new one because this one would cut off sometimes.
But I think its only the oil pressure sensor during fire to the fuel pump.
