72 Gremlin racing car

I bought this 72 Gremlin about a year ago . It had a rebuilt 283 with 2sd pg and has a ford 9inch 430 locker . The guy who owned it said it ran a best 12.40 time like it sits . I have a rev shift 400 auto and 4200 converter and starting on the new motor . Its a 388 short block old type seal block . I want some ideas on the motors top end build cam heads intake ign fuel . I want this car to be the fastest it can possibly be .

what compression you want? if it's race only I would go 13.1 you could runn Methanol then if you want. If budgets not a big deal then solid roller cam and some good after market heads, I have the AFR 210 race heads on mine and am very happy Brodix make a good head too. If its solid flat tappet and some stock iron heads then start hogging those heads out for flow.Tangos pretty good with that stuff he's posting some head porting info for another memeber

My 388 has dome 12.4 pistons with 64 chamber heads with aluminum rods billet caps callies crankshaft . Looking at new aluminum heads might go with a retro roller kit .

how many passes do the rods have? they work well but when their done they just let go. A pair of 202 heads well ported work good enough to get that little car into the 11's ive seen a nova with a 355 13.1 comp go low 11's at my local track im at 4000' closer to 5000 on a 95dgr day you've got some nice parts should be able to make that thing haul the mail

I have seen some max H.P #s on 383 Builds using AFR cnc 195cc Heads . But with the Bottom End you have and tall gear I would go with AFR cnc 210cc Heads . With a raised Weiand Team G 850 Race D/P . I cant say what exact camshaft with out knowing if your going Roller or not . Looks Like you can fit some Tires under that car it should run strong .

you'll have to foot break it or put wheely bars on that liitle car it'll stand straight up. Maybe cut holes in the floor so you can see where your going when it does. haha

What size intake runner cc's do you run . I know the 195's work best on 383's .
