Interesting artical. Even though not an exact hipo 289 it was close enough to support both Ford and Shelby HP/TQ claims.

These 289's made ok power for there size . But to take them up to another level you have to do a Lot of Porting on the Exhaust side of the heads . There is a nose shaped Bump in the port that when taken down makes a world of Difference . If you don't hit water going to far .
