1.8l g180z sohc isuzu motor

got some questions about this, for instance someone has put 2 breathers on this. should there be a pcv? also on the side of the motor just under the valve cover there are 4 tubes coming out looks like maybe a vacuum system but not sure they have been pinched shut.

Yes I am sure it had a PCV were one of them breathers is now . The Tubes pinched off Might be from an Air Pump that's gone now . I would re-install a PCV valve you really can not go wrong with them even on a Street / Strip cars .

I'll definatly put the pcv vavle in it and didnt even think about a smog pump, but that make sense. Lastnight I was checking it out and took the air cleaner off and noticed the choke horn move, the hole top of the carb was loose. so I tightened it up and noticed a hole down inside the top, got my flashlight and saw a bolt laying on a throttle bladeashamed talk about lucky that would have been the end for sure for that little motor. once everything was tight it fired up and idled real well. while idleing it does have a popping every so often. I think it might be timing. I'll check the points out today and see what they look like and clean them up with some sand paper. My daughter will be home saturday I'll have her take some pictures of what im working with.

I bet that Isuzu Engine is a good one . I have worked on some Large Isuzu Rent Trucks . They Ran well . I would Pick up New Point and condenser Set . Check all the Vacuum Lines and set the Timing install a PCV Valve and see how it runs . It may need a Valve adjustment as well . Is that Truck Stick or an Auto Trans ?

I was Looking in some old Tune up Books that I have and Could not Find the Tune up specs yet . I will do some more Looking I would use a dwell Tach to set the Points 4 cyl Setting 29-30 and set the Timing at 10 BTDC at 850 RPM's . If it's not pinging on 87 Octane go to 12 BTDC .
