RE: Picked up an Old Time Mini Bike

Here are a Few pics of the 7 H.P with the carb and Exhaust Mounted / Ready for a Test run . I did not Lock down the Exhaust with the 3/4" Nuts that you use . It won't stay Tight Like it should with out them . I would do that after mounting it to the Frame to see the best angle to Lock it down at .

Here we go it Fired up- Took a Few Pulls ran ok but breaks up at High RPM's and Yes it's 90Degs out But that Joker get Hot and shuts down / Hard to Pull . once it cools it starts ok again . I am sure this is an old Engine with Lots of Winter Snow throwing behind it and it more then Likely has Points that need to be replaced and the Coil and spark plug as well . It has ok spark but I think the Coil is weak and cuts out when hot . Like I told My Wife get the back Door because Big Bertha needs to go back Downstairs . I really want to get some Ridding Time in real soon . So I might opt to Buy one of them Honda clone 6.5 H.P Engines for now just to get me rolling . Later I will Pull off the Flywheel on Big Bertha tall Block 7 H.P and see how the Ign Looks . Might be Best to do a Full rebuild to it as well ? It has a 67 on the side case could be ?

Here I am running the Fuel out of the Carb bowl so I can take it back inside .

I found a New Honda clone 6.5 H.P Engine for a good Price with Pull and go Elt ign . I want to get this thing up and running real bad . And when it's running I want it to stay running with no stall outs or B.S . So I will call that Place this Morning and see if they have that Engine in stock and ready to ship out . Later I will pull off the Flywheel on that 7 H.P Tecumseh Engine change the Points and Coil and Test running it again . It might need a rebuild and new valves . I still would Like to run it one day maybe on a Go Kart ?

Thanks Denny .W for that helpful parts Link . My manual Brake Caliper is in good shape . But I did buy a new cable and handle and Disc Pucks . Mokan My wheels are 6" and they take Tube type tires . There are not a Lot of Tube type tires to chose from . And My Dad said son do what you can to get the Taller Tires Like Factory . In the ad on that Mini New it had 14" rear 12.5" Front . My aired up Tires measure at 12.5" not bad . I am Glad that the Tires are at Least this Tall . I had a Mini that had real small Tires and did not Like it to much .

Here you can see why I bought a New Sprocket

My Engine Showed up Today . So everyone gets to see it about the same Time I did . It's one Heck of an Engine for the $119.00 I paid for it . By no means is it a Small Engine . I would say it's as Big as the 7 H.P Tecumseh . And weighs about the same 36 Lbs . But the OHV design is much Lower but wider . So with the Gas Tank on they stand at the same height .

I think I have all the Parts I need to make this thing a runner . But Not sure How Much Time I will have to work on it this Weekend . Today I am going to stop by Ace Hardware to pick up a Few Bolts that I will need . Then start to have at it .

OK,My confusion was that they were 6" tall.  So guessing the 6 means inside diameter ?

Oh, yeah, I see what you mean. Same as car tires. 245/70/15. Meaning 15" rim /opening for mounting.

It's running now . Still needs a few adjustments but it can be ran for Fun as is . I am sure I felt the Front Wheel off the ground just a bit at Least two times . But they have that darn Governor setting down Low . So just when it really starts to Pull Hard it backs off . I want to run this Mini against My Fathers . If both the Engine Speed Governors were set near the Same . I think this Joker will have am even if we switch Driver seats Ha-biggrin

For a Few Times out I want to Leave the governor hooked up . And I want to see how this Engine Performs right out the Box vs My Fathers 6 H.P Power Sport Tecumseh . What I would Like is to Fine tune the governor to kick in at about 4800 RPM's . I did a few adjustments to it but did not Test drive it afterwards it was getting kinda Late out . Another Problem I have is the Hot Weather we our having . I don't want to over Heat this New Engine . Maybe Later Today when the Sun just goes Down I will take it out for a spin . There are a few ways to bypass the governor one is an easy Mod or it can be completely removed by opening up the side case and Taking out the drive gear and parts . This Engine runs great I may by another one the next super sale and do some all out Mods to it and switch off Engines from Time to Time . This Engine sounds Like a small Motorcycle Engine and pulls just as hard as one in it's 212cc Class from the Line .
