RE: Going to build me a Motorized Bicycle

Well Bikeberry cancelled My Engine Kit Order in a E-Mail to me ? It was on Back order but was to be in stock soon ? I think what it was is they are Priced $50.00 Bucks Less then other places so they said screw it Let just cancel the standing back orders they had ! F*** it I will use that 4 Stroke Mini Bike Engine Better off more Quiet More Power and Less Trouble keeping it running right . It does Piss me off the way they did that . But I can tell you this Lots of these Bike Parts are on Back order make some sense with the cost of fuel these days Folks are Build these .

You need this "WORKMAN" front wheel with drum brake in front. Or you wont be able to stop that bike. You than could use a caliper set up for the rear wheel. The coaster brakes ,dont work. The werent any good on the factory 1999 Whizzer I had. Had to rely on the front brake, Thats where your stopping power is any way. Just my opinion.Worksman Pirate Edition Front Drum 26" (Flat Black) Wheel W/11GA SS Spokes

$150.00

Thanks Mokan you are Right I am going to have to get one of them Front Wheels . There is no way I am going to stop a 4 H.P Powered Bike at Speeds over 30 MPH with coaster Brakes alone . I broke Coaster Brakes and Hand Brakes in the Past even with out an Engine on a Bike . I guess I just want to get it up and running do some Dialing in then buy the high dollar Front Wheel .

Well I got some parts delivered this week got Back Door-ed by the one Place in California . Looked Like they just threw the parts into the bottom of the box and stuffed a bit of used plastic wrap on top of that . I called the Place and E-Mailed them twice . They said they would replace the shattered bearings . Still no Shipping info on that replacement part ? And Like always they want to blame the shipper ? No you pack the parts inside Like $hit thew a Gas tank in the Box with out boxing it up first sure it's going to get dented . I told them I would repair that Tank but the Bearings no way send Me a New set . They can burn Me if they Like Ha-biggrin I can buy some Bearing Locally if I have to . Just have to spread the good word about how they treat customers  Now the other Place I ordered from is a Mini Bike / Go Kart Parts supplier . Not a Problem with that order got a #35 Chain and Sprocket that is not drilled that I can Drill to match My Hub and a Kill Switch . I will take some photos of thous Parts Later on .

I ended up putting the word out and did that on a Bike Site . I really hold back from doing things Like that it can really hurt a Guys Livelihood . Well My Phone rang not Long after that Post got rolling . I told the Guy how I felt about this again for the third time ! He said He would make this right on the bearings . But was really down and out about the thrashing I gave him / With Photos . So I removed it and Let it be at that . There was another guy who also was upset about his recent order that Posted as well .

Well time to move on with this Build . I have asked a Lot of Question about how and what / Why on these Bike Builds . Some of the info has been helpful and other stuff has had me chasing My own Tail around . I am at the point that I know just Enough to free had Build this thing with My own Ideas . I think in a Lot of Ways I can Build it Better and Stronger with some of My own custom touched . And I don't want just another Cookie cutter Motorized Kit Bike Build .

I was downstairs checking out some of the parts I got this week biggrin  Some COOL Stuff . Check out that Hub / Sprocket adapter Looks Like a part for a Race car Ha-biggrin I will have to do some Honing to it to make it fit just right but it's not to far off . And the Springer Forks 10 Feet of Chain and a 4 Bolt Roller Bearing Idler . New Pedals that Look Like they will give more clearance from the Engine and a 2.5L Fuel Tank with a Small Dent that I can Fix hmm and a polished Handle bar neck that is Nice but I might end up using a Black one instead . + a Kill Switch .

I special ordered that Sprocket un-Drilled so I could Drill it out to match the Hub adapter . I need to hone out that adapter just a bit to Custom fit the Hub on the Rim I have Now . But Like always I am not 100% I will use that Rim it's in good shape and straight but the spokes are not H.D 12ga . I am So confused Like always Ha-biggrin

I,d get the correct Heavy Duty wheel,so you dont have to redo it later.. Its lots cheaper with out the drum brake,as long as you use one up front.. It would be cool if you could utilize that rear sprocket as your disc for a caliper style brake as well. You figure that one out,you could prob sell the design :)

I was about ready to buy some Heavy Duty Rims but after Getting that Box of Damaged parts I am in fear that them Rim will show up bent Like a pretzel . And most of them parts come from the Long ride of the Land of Fruits and Honeys / California .

I have that COOL well Stocked old school Bike Shop not far from Me . The guy has Lots of Rims hanging on his wall . Last Time I was there he said take a Look . I told him I was Building a Motorized Bike He kinda Looked Funny at Me But said ok Look around . He also remembered me from many years Back when I was a Kid and Built Bikes Ha-Ha Heck he has to be My Dad's age maybe a Little older but Look very much Like he did in the 70's Ha-Ha . I think he is right about done with his Bike store . I will see what I can buy from him to Build My Bike . That old Schwinn Rim by rights should be pretty strong . But the Spokes are standard size I start throwing 4+ H.P at that it will be Like a BB on a 7 1/2 GM diff Ha-biggrin

The Workman Rear Wheels are on Back order . But I can get a Husky HD 12ga Spoke Rear Wheel Like this on for $60.00 Bucks . I will order one this weekend . Your Right why do all the set up work on that Lighter Duty Rear Wheel only to have it bend / Twist up in just a Short Time . I will go with a Coaster Brake Rear Wheel then Later Buy a Front Wheel with the Drum Brake set up . Kinda use the Rear Coaster Brake as a secondary Brake .

Well I took a trip thru ebay, pickings are slim. Saw this chain tensioner,,looks like a piece you could use?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310325202886&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_1098wt_1163

I did see that one and was going to get it . But after talking to a few guys that used them I went with the H.D Fixed tensioner . I guess the problem with that tensioner is the spring is to Light and slaps a Lot on Load and Unload of Torque . You can mod it with a Heavier Spring from the hardware store . I may upgrade on My build Later on with a Tango made Spring Tensioner ?

As For that Wheel it showed a 20 Lbs Ship weight and I am sure the size of the Box comes into play for shipping cost as well . If it's packed well and makes it here undamaged it will be well worth it . They make a Front wheel with the Drum Brake that I have My eye on too .

The day before the storm My wife bought about $250.00 in groceries . And there is no way I can Leave My Basement for Long with out a Sump Pump worse with all the rain build up of water from this spring . So I had My small Generator going but I have to gas it up and check the oil about every 2.5 Hours . So at about the 24 Hour point and be told it will be two more days . I went out to Home Depot and Bought a Larger Generator $600.00 + IL Tax $670.00 Later this Joker runs 10 Hours on it's 5 gal Tank about $50.00 Buck a Day to run it can charge up Half the House . No water in the basement or wasted Food in the fridge .

That looks about like the one I have in my race car trailer, except mine is only 2400 watts.Yours looks like its 6000 watts. Mine was only $300.00 .. Soo I got what I paid for,its crap LOL .. It was good that you did that,, Now your covered, for what ever. The farm I lived at ,while growing up,had to have a sump pump in the basement. Was all shell and lime stone ,and water was always triclking in there.  I can remember days when we would lose power and the water would get 5 ft deep or more,It would be comming up the cement stairway leading down to the basement form the back indoor porch.
