starting up Catalina after 9years

I towed my wifes grandfathers 73 Catalina in the barn now . It was sitting in his garage and not started fo 9 years . The car shows 58000 on it I want to clean it up for my 17 year old his first car . I grabed the bottom pulley and could turn the engine it's not locked . What are some of the things I need to do to start and make this car drive safe again . I know the brakes are all rusted up will need all new rotors and drums fuel tank looks ok exhaust not real bad .

You should prime the motor with an old distributor or a primer to get oil thru the important parts before you try and start the motor. Sounds like you got a great car. Good luck.

I know what your mean but not sure if i have room to get a drill back there . I was planing to pull all the plugs and fill the cyls with some oil . looks like the valve covers were leaking and maybe the trans pan has a 400 with 400 trans . brake master and ps is full .

It would be a Good Idea to first Change the oil and do as CR55 said and as you are Planing to do . Get it running then do the trans Filter and pan gasket first before you overhaul the Brakes . But don't try and test drive it with out going completely through the brakes . Check all the Lines and drain out as much of the Fuel out of the tank add fresh fuel for the First start up .
