RE: new engine for the mustang *budget build*

Ya Mine had a 140 Jasper Re-Man with Steel Sleeves . But I don't want to take your Thread to far away from that Mustang Build . How is that car Running now ? I have Heard them Early 80's Mustang Brakes are not so Good for Hi -Per Car Stopping ? You may have to upgrade them to Late 80's Type .

they work fine for an 11-12 second car. only reason people go with the bigger brakes is the 5 lug. i am not picky. 4 lug works fine for me.

its running ok still havent had a chance to yank off all the emissions crap been cold here 20 day 10 right now to damn cold for me.

I think the 1987-88 and up Models had Larger Brakes but I am not 100% sure on that I will have to do some Checking . And yours being a 4cyl Model might even have smaller Brakes . Should not be a Big Problem the 8.8 will have the GT Brakes out Back . So then just the Front may need the Up-Grading . 4 Lug will be ok nod.gif it's the Brake Pad and Rotor Size you want to check on .

Hey I thought My Brake were ok on My V8 Monza Till I got to the Big end and they hit the Floor and I ended up stopping in a Cornfield . If your going to run that car I would make sure the Brakes are better then Factory stock 4cyl Type . My Friend had a 1985 GT Mustang Brand New . The Brakes would Heat up Quick and not Stop . His 1987 Stopped much better .

Last Night I Looked up the Brake Pads and Calipers for Both the 1985 and the 1988 . They are different . But the two Look to be of the Same Basic Size . I would say with a Good set of Rotors and a Set of Re-Man Calipers and Premium Ceramic Brake Pads you will be safe .

since i ended up buying the wrong heads, i got my way out of that, i am trading my hood for a set of good e7te heads and a differnt hood that only has a slight bit of surface rust on the inside?

this is a BUDGET BUILD. AND since i will be getting a 2 inch glass cowl anyway, i am not to worried about this ordeal. i found them on ebay for 99 bucks!

i also have my buddy lined up to paint this car since the paint is literally peelling off it. can you guess the color?biggrinyawn

also now that i have the heads, all i have left is the intake, carb, rings and bearings. and the distributor which i found a real good duraspark for 20 bucks with the ign box i am not going to complain about that? i wanted to use an HEI but hey 20 is cheap!!!! and its in good shape.
