Ya I am sure only the Short Block is Worth Keeping . But it a Regular Firing order non-Roller 302 Ha-biggrin One Guy told me the Early 70's 302 Truck Head had Bigger Valves ?

everyone is telling me i got screwed haha, they dont have alot of meat to be ported and they dont flow so good in the chamber, whereas the gt-40 heads are a swirl chamber.

I have some Photos of a Ported 289 Head you have to remove the Bumps in the Exhaust Ports . Yes if you go wild you will hit water . But there are Big H.P Improvements by doing this .

oh yeah i have heard the 289 heads work good if you port them, i jsut do not have the $ to do that.

i have a set of early 351 windsors waiting for me for $100 bucks with new parts i am happybiggrin and i will get 50 in trade of my 302 heads i got haha.

Ya the 351W have Larger intake Ports . And you can Port the Exhaust Side at Home . No $$$ = s Lot's of Time for Porting nod.gif

I will send you some . If you only knew how many Hours I spent Porting them Heads for My Monte Carlo yawn I did a Mild Porting of the Fuely Heads for My 327 I think I am about done with Full Porting Heads .

Hey Scooter we have to Find you a good H.D Budget Clutch ? I put a Borg Warner Clutch from the Local Auto Store in a 1985 GT Mustang . It worked out ok .

guys around here have been saying use a stock clutch, and they have been running 2-3 years on them. its only gonna be about 315 to the tires

Ya that B/W Auto Store Clutch Grabbed pretty good and it was not to expensive .

so far what i have on my list for needed parts is,

intake manifold, either a Parker funnel web or a summit racing stage 3 intake both about the same price.

trick flow stage 1 cam.

600 double pumper.

clutch

subframe connectors

rings and bearings.

cowl hood

Not long ago I had a 89 GT that I bought with out a motor . I found a good used 1995 5.0 with the ford injecton on it . It was just about stock had headers and duals . I used the ford racing clutch . Some one wanted that car more then me so I sold it . Had the factory posi low 3 gear .

so far its been a good car, today i had to fix a heater hose the last jackoff that worked on it put the hose clamp on wrong and cut the hose it started spewing all over haha, pulled over at the part store 3 minutes later was back on the road!

that little sucker proly gets good mpg.t j's gets 20.not too bad but i had a 350 in an extended pickup that did 20 also.

My Truck gets about 15 in the City 21 on the Highway . I think with a Small Mileage Carb I could squeak more out of it . I had a 1988 Pontiac 6000 4Cyl . That car was no better on MPG then the Truck is .

my buddies tempo has the FI 2.3 ford haha it only gets about 14 mpg highway or in town haha my stang gets 20-25 hwy/city

My GEO Tracker has to be in the mid 20 MPG Range in the City . My Old Vega was good on Gas for an Old School 4 Bangger .

yeah they were ok. i had a 76 gt hatchback its a cool car. had rods knocking when i bought it planned a v8 swap sold it.

By 1976 G.M did a Lot of up dates to them . By then they were Just about Monza's with Vega Bodys .

after they put the 151 in them they were good cars.
