new engine for the mustang *budget build*

well ive decided to build a simple budget v8 for the mustang.

i am only in this car now 390 bucks!!!

i have a roller gt40 shortblock from an explorer, a buddy of mine owed me some money for car parts, so i had him buy me this.

a set of early 69 302 heads, heads are ready to go. new everything. got them for $90 bucks .

will be using the trick flow stage one cam, ,Lift .499/ .510 283/291 adv, @050 221 int./225 exh. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/TFS-51402000/ $179.00

edelbrock performer rpm airgap or weiand equal. with a 600 holley dbl pumper. manifold is http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-226031/?rtype=10 weiand makes the summit intakes anyway i am told.

i traded a set of explorer exhaust manifolds for a brand new set of ford racing headers. manifolds were free.

i am going to be trading my 4 speed for a t5 , straight across , complete set up for complete setup.

the 4 banger and 7.5 rearend are spoken for once i do the swap. i will get an 8.8 with posi and 100 bucks out of this.

motor is good enough to be rehoned and oversize rings put in, of course new rings and bearings. this is going to be the under 900 dollar budget 302 sbf that will run a low 13 and still get 15-18 mpg hwy.

That's a good Set up do what you can to Remove that Nose shaped Bump out of the 302's Exhaust Ports . That adds Lot's of Extra Power . And you are ok with the Stock Sized Valve on that Build . I have a unilite Dist in My 289 it seems to work ok .

i may spurge and ask my buddy to save me his 8.8 rearend its a newly rebuilt 8.8 with a detroit locker, dutchman axles, c-clip eliminators, rickmond 3:73 gears and he only wants 400 bucks. i have some parts he wants to.

also going to trade my 302 lo-po heads for some early 351 heads to bump the comp up to 9:5-1

i also have an early set of 289 heads i am going to re-sell for 75 bucks.

this is turning out to be a pretty low budget deal. i will have a car that will run 12.9's for about 1200 bucks total investment.

also the 4 banger and 7.5 rearend are spoken for for 350 bucks. when i do my swap

The 351W Heads have Larger Valves 1.84"in and 1.54"ex with 60cc Chambers . They would work well on a 302 . Iron GT-40 Heads have 1.84"in and 1.54"ex Valves with 65cc Chambers .
