Most Camshaft today are said to be ground +4 advanced . But how about the Timing Set ? and as the Timing Set and Valve train wear it retards . Advance gives you more Bottom End Retarding gives more Top End Power . In 1973-74 Chevy started installing +4deg retarded Crank Gears for emissions reasons ?

he figured out that my timing set set at straight up was 4* retard so by advancing it it became straight up according to the card. but its a cloyed tru double roller? i guess all "50 state emission legal" timing sets are said to be like that 4* retard? for emission legal.

but its now on a 105 lobe sep so it is good to go. we degreed it to where my heads and intake will make peak power all together? 7300 is the good point.

After Budget Building that 305 for My Truck and seeing how well it Performs and the Fuel Mileage that it gets . I have a whole new respect for the under 327ci SB Chevy Engines . I had a 1989 Pontiac with a 5.0 Roller Engine that ran just great there was no need to up the Cubic inch's on that car either . My Next Engine Build will be a 283 or 305 but I will shoot for a Higher H.P Build .

That thing was Bitten something hard . I would not say to do it . But if that was a Piston for a car I had to drive say a daily driver . I think I could clean it up so it would work . Ha-Ha I have done it on Trucks before .

Man I wanted to see it run with the 355. maybe you could shove the piston up the guys butt that you got it from and ask if it did any damage.

i did alot of degreasing no? and i mean alot. that damn master cylinder always pisses me off haha, it leaked when we 1st got it we had a wilwood prop-valve in there and it leaked all over there int hat corner and ate the paint up pretty bad. i need to get the engine compartment re-shot after i get my rollcage tie in bars done. then it will be completely full frame per-sae anyway.

oh ya it will be ready to fir in the morning.

all i gotta do is finish the trans lines, prime the oil system test fuel system and fire it off to break the cam in.

my buddy got my some stickers for my door and back window. so now ive finally got my name on there. and he made me a "in loving memory of mom" set to it was real COOL.

my valve covers sad i know, i had them in a box face down with my valve train parts in there they were at my buddys shop i didint know the box got wet !! they probably were wet for 6 months. i didint even know it i spaced them out. they are pitted real bad but the insides are clean because of being up and oiled. i found them again, they are hard to find? 119.95 new.

B&M what the HELL!!!! i miss my hurst stuff. even tho they were bought out hurst was better quality. that cable is BRAND NEW and it simply slid apart

i already got a new one. it ran ok i am still sorting the timing out because i switched fuels so had to retune carb, and do the timing a bit differently it ran a 13.02 shifting at 6k i normally shift at 7 or 7300. as soon as i hit 2nd i blew the intake gaskets where the heat crossovers in the heads are, the intake was notched right over the top of them crossovers and it just blew the gasket out and shot a 2 foot flame out of each side haha. it should run a good lower 12 if i get the bugs worked out. thats what this weekend was for. having fun.

i am gonna have that intake welded up.

i have a loaner for tomorow.

and the slicks sure are different haha.
