i personaly would never use a hyper piston, ive jsut seen to many of them come apart in nothing specials to high dollar stuff. i am a stuck on forged piston man here.

but see i do not have the cash to build a whole nother motor, i.e: new pistons redo the rods etc. so like i said i may just stick the 301 back in because at least i know it runs good, i just oiled the hell out of that thing with 20w50 to to store it haha, gonna have to clean it up now so it will fire out.

thats the worst one, 3 thers have small knicks in them on the tops of the pistons on the flat spot below the dome, but none of the others are chewed that bad

well its a done deal for now, the came lifters and heads are on the 355, but i am taking the 301, and some leftover gaskets a buddy gave me he just built a 383 and gave me a set of head gaskets fuel pump plate water pump the norm. because hes got a box full of em, and everything i need to do a motor swap to the track. this would not be the 1st time i have done or helped a buddy do a swap overnight?

if that 355 blows up im gonna be back the next day with the 301

i would say with myself and my budy it would take about an hour to do that swap. id yank the motor out to unhook it totally takes 10-15 minutes, bang on the engine stand heads off cam out onto the 301 switch pans this would take maybe 45 minutes? then another 10-15 putting it in haha an hour

Are you talking about the cylinders on the 301 or the 355 ? I thought you all ready installed the Heads on the 355 . If So run it for a Few Passes and see how it Does . As Long as you mark the camshaft / Lifters you can pull that camshaft back out and install it into your 301 Later on .

yes i did, i should of said the heads were almost on that 355 it was sketchy so i said hell no and rebuilt the 301.

that 301 now has that nice schneider cam with lots of moly lube and lucas assembly oil slathered all over it and a nice holley strip dominator intake i got from a real good friend biggrin.gif .  my engine builder buddy showed up today and helped me degree that cam shaft ive never done that before? we found this cam straight up was 103.5 lobe seperation and was spose to be 105 so we advanced that cam 4 degrees by moving the crank sprocket, and he brought clay we clayed it and had  .135 of clearance with no head-gasket so its good to go.

also them schneider lifters i got have that .039 oiling hole in the face of the lifter.

once i toss the valve covers on i am going to mask off the exhaust ports and head bolts and re-paint this motor. i cleaned it real good today it just looks bad in the pics. as i go i drop my garbage haha, thats a bad habit to just drop it on the floor. but when i am done it will nice and bright yellow again.
