junkyard 350 chevy t-400 two gn turbos marty in spokane did this on a 350 with 125k miles on the clock and ran 10.50's with 6psi in a 80's firebird.

id stuff it inĀ  a 78-8? malibu/el-camino

the 1k for speed parts would go for headers and turbo parts.

I would say Late 80's Mustang LX 5.0 Body with SB Chevy 5.7 Vortec Roller Block TH-350 and 8.8 that's in the Mustang with 433 Gear . Have to use part of that Money for the Gear Headers and rest for Engine Parts . Find 6 Cyl Torque Converter for poor man's stall Speed . Won't be as Quick as a Turbo Build but with a Shot of Nitrous it would be very Quick .

I was Talking with a Building Maintenance Guy at work . He has a F-Body Car with an LS ? Engine . He said that your best bet is to Find a 2500 Truck that's Smashed up and Pull the 6.0 LS Engine and Trans / ECM and Wiring for a LS Hot Rod Build. It's Much Cheaper to do that way . And some time thous Guy don't know the Hot Rod Value of them Part's .

We have some Small Truck's at work GVW 14500 . They have baby LS1 4.8's 293ci Engine's with that New HD 4sp Auto OD Tran's . That Baby LS1 4.8 is Like the Grand Dad 283's kind of dead off the Line but turns on real strong at about 3000 RPM's .

Here is a Photo of one of them .

i was also thinking the ultimate budget built junkyard sbc, get a sbc from a truck the roller cam one piece rear main, put on vortech heads use some of the 1,000 for a intake, put a reqorked q-jet on it, and use the exhaust manifolds off of an 80's vette and weld up the smog holes they are just like shorty headers,

Heck if that guy two Block's down would Sell me that 1975 V8 Chevy Monza . I would Drop in a Gen one Low C/R 350 with a Mild cam some Shorty Headers and a 3.73 gear . And have me one fun Street Car that Kid's now a days would have no clue what it was . It would run Low 13's on Street Tires on Low grade Fuel and get fair MPG too .

Hard to find any old BB's in the Junkyard . Some times on the Craig's List you can find one . And any old Camaro Nova or Vega that's worth Building won't be Cheap to buy no

I picked up a vega on a trade deal . set up for sbc with 350 tranny . has 411 camaro rear axle . so i might make this $1000 number . I have a 336 sbc that needs a crank and one rod . should i spend the money on that motor or look for another core to have rebuilt ? the heads i have are world sportsman angle plugs . the car came with headers and a 3800 tci stall . still need cam kit intake and carb have msd dist set up .

If that 336 is an early small Journal Block it will be harder to find a Crankshaft and Rods for it . Also the small Journal Rods are not as strong as the Large Journal ones . So I would say if it's an Early Block . I would Build a 355-383 4-Bolt Main instead and use them sportsman Heads with a Team-G Intake and a 750 D/P Holley . Can't say a Lot on what Camshaft you would Like to run . But Low Budget would be a Flat Tappet Type . If this Car going to be used on the Street or Strip only and what kind of Brakes are on it ?

get a dart, duster or a valiant pull a 440 and Tflite trans out a newport or some other large c body mopar.

for gear 3.91 gears from a 8.75 rear out of a early pickup truck and a 8.75 rear from a 67 or earlyer c body because 67s rears arent much wider than a-body rears

the cash would be spent on headers ,cam and intake for carb a 800cfm thermoqaud

and for good measure through on a set granny hub caps keep her that granny gold or green and you got a instant sleeper

This set up is a no brainer mopar guys been doing this for ever.

for a chevy take vega or a early shoe box nova stuff a big block engine and trans from a box truck or a camper spend $1000 on used parts headers ,carb and so on chevy parts seem to be pretty easy to come by if you cant find a big block a nice 35o vortex from a box truck seems like it be a choice

my 97 G30 cube van has 220000 miles on her 350 vortex and she moves even with a 10 foot box parts and tools best most reliable truck in my fleet my newer fords are always breaking and are exspensive to keep running this truck has almost made me a Chevy guy lol

she always starts no matter how cold it is outside you get heat right away and when she does break parts are cheap and easy to come by.

I would rather build a early stang with 429 init but i have this vega for now . the motor block is from a 65 vette 2 bolt mains i dropped off the crank at the engine shop . the man said it can be used at -30 and its a good one . he does have a 383 with trading in my 336 it would be $700.00 . my car will be raced and some weekend driving . not sure what to do now ?
