Welcome to Hot Rod House . COOL Car you have there back in 1978-79 My Friends Dad Bought a Black Car Like that one . It was nice and I know another guy that had one with a Factory 400 Engine . Are you going to reuse your stock intake or change it ? Stock it will use a Spread Bore Design bolt pattern . Less choices in carbs that will work to convert it but you could use an adapter plate then I would go with an Edelbrock 750 Performer Carb . For an Ign System most all of the Mail Order Speed Shop's have the Mopar Elt non emissions ign set up as a Kit that works well and is priced not to high .

Adapter Plate ->

Thanks Tango for the info . I do know about them adapter plates . My brother had a 600 Edelbrock carburetor on his chevy van with one of them plates . I struck a deal with him and bought both . I would like to try that 600 out . Can you post that ign system that you posted about ? I did see that MSD post would that be a good set up for my car ?

Here is that Mopar Performance ign system I am talking about . All you need is a High Volt Coil and a Good set of Ign wires and you will be good to go . Sure an MSD would add to the Performance of this system . But for an extra cost . For a mild Hot Rod I would pass on it .

My car is running real good with the lean burn junk removed and sounds bad to the bone with them headers . Now I am think about a camshaft swap . What camshaft profile fits my 360 best for performance street ? I need to replace my water pump so now is a good time to make this camshaft swap .

I would not go to big with a Camshaft Change for your car . With it's Lower Compression and Factory valve spring's . Some thing Like 450" Lift 218 dur at .050 110-112 L/C .

Over the winter I am going to pull out my 360 and go through it . I can get a set of 1972 340 heads for next to nothing . If I had them rebuilt what camshaft should I use with my stock 727 and 3.23

That should help Bump your C/R some . I would also buy a Dual Plane High rise intake . As for the camshaft choice I still would go Like I said above . And re-think that stock Torque Converter . Go with a 2500 Stall for a Better off Line Launch .

for heads you could call Indy cylinder heads and buy a nice set of asemble heads by aerohead for $499.00 or if you have it in your buget a good set of edelbrock heads cost about $1400 but have the benifit of larger intake valves.

you could always just pull the stock heads mill them and have 2.02 intake valves install and good 3 angle valve job.

for a cam you could try a nice mopar performace purple shaft guys have been running these cams for yrs

or you could call comp cams tell them what you are trying to get from your set up.
the more info you give them(compression,tire size,rear gear, stall speed,intended use and so on) the better they match the cam to your needs they even can custom grind if needed.

340 and 360 are great little motors built right in light car and they make great big block slayers.
