Tango's Mustang

I started to do a bit of work on my 1965 289 4-Speed Mustang . Kind of fun working on a Car that old  smile

Some part's I ordered from Mustang Unlimited showed up today . Official Licensed Hoses with the FoMoCo and #s on them . Their COOL  biggrin

I Finished up building this Holley 600 V/S . Did some Tango Mod's to it . Going to run it for now on my Mustang . It might just be right at home on top that 289 ? biggrin If not I will re-install the 625CFM Carter AFB that was on it . It's on my work Bench getting a freshening up .

I installed the correct Look a Like Stock Coolant Hoses . The Heater Hose has the white Line just Like Factory . They were a bit tricky to hook them up . The Heater Hoses go into the car under the dash to the Heater Core ? Not sure if this is a Better Idea that Ford used  biggrin

I still need to insulate the Heater Hoses were they rub the valve cover .  I looked at a Few Photos of how Ford ran these Hoses . So I could get them to be as close as stock as possible . But then again this engine is not stock going for that Restro-Rod Period Correct Look . I bolt on my 600 Holley to .

Here is how it will Look with the Air Cleaner on . Not a Lot of Hood Clearance at all ?
But the Hood does shut ok . Later I will get some Performance Black Spark Plug Wires and Tie them down better .

Na it's about a 2-3/4 Car Garage with a Very Cracked Floor and a Roof that always Leak and No Heat no But It's Better then Working out on the Gravel Like I had to when I Rented . But Not that much Better biggrin When It's warm out and I have a Car that I can Move in and Out of the Garage . I Like to work on the Driveway It is New and Much easier to work off of . When I installed my TH-350 in the Monte Carlo that Cracked Floor in my Garage was a Mother Bear to Fight with on my creeper .

Tango, I am so envious of that car. The 4 speed seals the deal man! I am remembering the toploader in my first car: 66 Fairlane... I was the cats meow in that thing, or so I thought =) I do love the car and can't wait to see more pics.

It's still cold out here in IL . But it's starting to warm up smile Last Year after surgery and when I could go back to working and it was to soon no I spent most of my Free Time working on my Monte Carlo . I did get my Monte Carlo to move under it's own Power . But It still needs a Fuel Cell / Lines an Exhaust System . And Later on it will Need a Manual Steering Box conversion . But This year the Mustang will go 1st on my List so It can hit the street's once again .

Here is a Video of my Mustang before I changed the intake . I started it up after it sat for over one year the carb was acting up gummed up from siting . One of the worse thing you can do to a Hot Rod .

Them Five Spoke Mag's are coming off too . I just never Liked them Rim's on any Car . Going with a Set of Factory 15" Steel Rim's with Chrome Trim Ring's and Lug Nut . I can't afford the Rim's that I want . So I have to go with what I can afford for now .

I like the factory steel rim idea. Kind of has the 65 GT350 flavor. And looks good too.

I bought a used 14" wood wheel for my car. Same problem my legs get stuck under it getting in and I'm 6'1". So this one should give me a bit more room.

Good to see the Stang will hit the streets this year.

That McCulloch supercharger is a interesting upgrade! Most guys use the Paxton.

Please post pics of the rims and tires when your all set. I never get tired seeing pics of that Stang Bud!!! What size tires are you thinking about? I have TA 235-60-14's all around on my Cougar. I wanted 245's for the rear but everyone was out of stock. The 235's look too fat on the front and too skinny on the back. I don't think they are tall enough either and don't fill the wheel wells nicely. I want to change to at least 15" rims of some sort. I have a 2 steel 15" rims from the old Mustang and I've been looking for a cheap pair of Drag Radials. They have a old set of studded snow tires on them now. LOL.

Worked on My Mustang just for a Little Bit today . I Hooked up my Fuel Line and Filter and Throttle Linkage . I Tried to remove the Top off my Single Chamber Brake Master to check my Fluid Level . Wow is that Joke Screwed on there Tight ? I had a Small oil Filter wrench around it and it still wouldn't unscrew ? I could buy a New Cover if I break that one off . But Now is a Good time to upgrade it to the Dual Chamber 1967 Mustang Master Cylinder . That's one Part that Most Mustang Guy's don't worry about Leaving Original .

After dinner said to myself Heck good time to install that New Grant Nostalgia Steering Wheel I Bought from Mustangs Unlimited . One of them Jobs you Don't get all Dirty and ? No Biggie right ?

Man That Joker was way Tight on that Shaft . And this is that Year that the Long Steering shaft is part of the Steering Box . You Don't want to mess up them threads . I Did see that the Ford Wheel was Cracked . So I put some Heat on it but still My Steering Wheel Puller would not budge it . I was going to just go back into the House and call it a Day . But in Tango Style I don't give up easily . I used a Small Engine Balancer Puller with some Short grade 8 Bolts . Ya I got it ! Now remember if Your working on an Old Ford . They run a Hot Wire down the Column . It's Best to disconnect your Battery . And you want to make sure you hook up the Horn correctly on the New Wheel . That why so many Old Hot Rods with custom Steering Wheels the Horns are not Hooked up . Lots of Folks just said Heck with it . The New Wheel is 15" not much Smaller then the Factory one . But it has a Little Better Off Set . It is much Nicer and is Licensed under Ford .
