Set of #186 Double Hump's

After Cleaning off my Work Bench . I set these #186 Double Hump Heads up on there . I think I can rebuild them . I have seen worse ones that Machine Shops have slapped together . I ordered new S/S Valves earlier tonight . With 64cc Chambers I could bump up that C/R on a Budget 350 Build ?

The Valves showed up today . These are the Budget S/S 1.94"/1.50" Valves . They are not High Flow Stems . But they are one piece 21-4n Stainless Polished and have Hardened Tips . Much better then re-using worn Stock Steel Valves .

My Valve Spring's showed up today smile I originally ordered them from Doug Herberts . But they were out of stock . So Chet Herberts in CA Shipped them to me . Now called Herbert Performance after the Passing of Chet a Hot Rod Legend / Cam Grinder . I enjoy buying and using Part's that others don't use as much Like Say only Comp Cams Stuff . These Valve Springs are nice Because you install them at a Higher  Spring height setting with the same install Spring Pressure as others at Lower install heights . Make's for more Valve Retainer to Seal Clearance .

Hey 283nova What # Double Hump Head's are on your 301 Now ?

I may have these Heads built by next weekend . I should have ran these Heads on the 355 in my Monte Carlo . But they are going on that 327 with the Small Domed Pistons . With the right Camshaft Pick . That Engine should be an even Better Street Engine then the 355 . As far as Strip use ? Have to see how Strong that 327 will be biggrin

I did some work outside on these Casting's today . A bit of massaging of the Valve Pocket's and Exhaust Ports . They should Flow a Little better then Stock Now biggrin I oiled them and have them Bagged up so they won't stink up the House . My wife will be MAD hmm

I could Paint them Castings . But Most of the time I build them up First . You can see some of the Clean up I did to them exhaust Ports . I would say they will Flow easy 170cc on the intake side and out Flow Vortecs on their Exhaust side . I am Look to get as close to 400 H.P with them as I can on my 327 Build with a Smaller Camshaft then my 355 has .

Double Hump Heads of what we called Back then Fuelly Heads . When Ported right can support some pretty High H.P SB Chevy Build's . Holley Stopped Marketing that Street Dominator when they took on Weiand . I am Quiet about that intake But it Does not Shut off till 7200 . I would take that over an Edelbrock RPM . But they are Neck and Neck . The Holley will out torque the Edelbrock RPM Down Low .

my dirt track buddy robert uses them old double hump heads on his builds. he does use vortec too. he told me the old double humps can be just as good as the vortecs with a good port job and the 2.o2 1.60 valves.he does well at the track in budget cars. he goes up against the hi dollar cars with his cheap built ones.i like seein a poor boy build run with the big dogs. hahaha...hes lettin his son drive now and he is doin real well in that car.

i got my tookus handed to me so many times by them dang 327's than i could ever count.their good a street rod engine as any i can think of. can be built to haul azz purdy easy. yea the 350 is bigger but those 327 were in most everything in the 60's and early 70's.course, now i like the chevys better. but at one time i was tryin to run with em with my 289's in the 65-66 mustang.it was a race in the 1/8th mile but the quarter belonged to the chevy. ive found that to be true in most cases.the cheapest horse power out there. sprint.gif

I do Like the way these Heads came out . I have had a Few L/J 1968-69 327's both where mainly Street Performance Engines . And Both is Cars with auto Transmissions . They never seemed short of H.P / Top end Power . But not real Tire fryers either . From a 20 MPH punch they where full on and could take 396-402 BB Muscle Car's as I did biggrin
