What Should I build ?

I have this Good 1970 4-Bolt Main 350 Block .

126bsrd.jpg

#1 could build it with the Rotating Assemble from a 1971 350 That I have it would be an 8.75.1 C/R 350 .

Or #2 Use the Rotating Assemble from a L/J 327 That I have with Small Domed Pistons . With the same #882 Heads this Combo would have about 9.5.1 C/R .

With the Cold Weather already by me . I am Going to start and Clean up the 327 Crank Rod's and Pistons . This way when Spring set's in I can do the Block Prep and build this Engine . I have a set of Double Hump Heads on another Post on here that will be done and ready to bolt on . Still toying with a few Camshaft picks . But I am going for Max H.P + Drive ability / Vacuum and Budget .

The Piston's and Rod's are a much better choice if I go 327 Build . Rods are Rebuilt with SPS Bolts . Pistons Small Domes shade over 10.1 C/R with 64cc Head's . The 3.25 L/J 327 Crankshaft Looks good I think I can just polish it up and Run it . But I will check it good . I have built a Few 327's . Strange Engine's not a Lot of Low End Torque . But not bad in a Light Weight car . They seem to Turn one at about 2500 RPM's from there on up Just as strong as a 350-383ci SB Chevy . I want this 327 to be as Powerful as my 355 that is in my Monte Carlo . But more streetable . I need to pick the best Camshaft for that Job . And I will do some mild Porting to the Double Hump Heads that are on the other Post that I am Building for this Engine . I feel that on HRH Forum . I never got into the Full detail of pulling every bit of H.P that you can from these Engine's . On here we will take Build's all the way . If that means teaching an Old Dog New Trick's So Be It ! I am Game for that nod.gif

How about a Boat SB Chevy Camshaft on the Street confused.gif Maybe ?

http://www.compcams.com/Cam_Specs/CamDetails.aspx?csid=99&sb=1

This one will out Power the XE262H and run right with the XE268H but have better Vacuum and all around Drive-ability . Now that would be Very COOL

I would Like to run this Camshaft if I have the Extra Cash when I get to that point of this build . I do have another camshaft that is close specs to this right now that I could use .

Here are some new Pictures of the Cleaned up Block . After further inspection of my 3.48" 350 Crankshaft it Look Like it would have to be sent out for a 10/10 under cut If I wanted to use it hmm I do have one more 3.48" Crankshaft I might take a Look at ?

I would Love to Find a V8 Vega Rolling Body to set this Engine into . I am going to run a Bit smaller Street Friendly Camshaft then I did in My Monte Carlo . This engine may end up in that car .

I ordered a Cloyes Timing Set for My 327 thinking it was a Street Double
Roller Chain and Gears . Not the Real High end one just the Street
Roller . I ordered it from O-Reilly Auto Parts . Cloyes # C3055 . But
Later on after Looking into the description more this is what I found it
is ? It says it has a Single Roller Chain biggrin
And no it's not the Cheapest stock type . I will pick it up tomorrow
and see how it Looks . It was a special order Part and I don't want to
return it and Piss off my Buddy's over there that always order me off
the wall parts  confuse

•Heavy Duty Timing Set

I picked up an Intake today for the 327 . It's Brand New never Bolted on just set on an Engine to keep the dust out .

$50.00 Bucks

290r7eb.jpg

When I was there I asked if he had any other SB Chevy Parts ? He said ya I have this Timing chain and Chrome Cover . It's a Cloyes True Roller . And he Said I have a Set of old 327 Heads with all New S/S Valves but he took the Springs and retainers for another set of heads ? They are #461 Fuelly Heads Double Bumps yes all new valves with valve job done with tight guides. Some Light surface rust from sitting in the Garage . I sprayed them down with Pen oil I will clean them up and make good use of them . But the guy said I gave you a deal don't sell these parts on E-Bay . If you do don't come back to My House COOL with me . He has Lots of BB Stuff and Old SS Impalas and a Few BB GS Buick's . I think he runs a Hot Rod shop . I did not ask him just some car talk . It was a good day . Him and his Buddy's Liked My Hot Rod 305 Truck . I got on it when I Left Ha-biggrin I could Tell they Like Hot Rods Ha-biggrin .

So I paid

$50.00 for the Intake

$50.00 for both #461 Fuelly Heads with New S/S Valves / Cut for Seals

$10.00 for the Cloyes True Roller Timing set and this is the High end one with a Chrome Cover

Them #461's are said to be the highest Flowing Fuelly Heads and I can See that the intake Ports had a Light Gasket matching done to them .

Well I spent a Few hours Cleaning them Fuelly Heads today . It wasn't an easy Job But went well . First I made one pass with a wire Brush . Then I marked all the S/S Valves and Bagged them up .

2j1ndch.jpg

Then I was taking a second Look ? Shouldered  Screw in Studs COOL smile

2aiodwk.jpg

Then a Few more Rounds of Cleans yawn

ea2puc.jpg

Then this Nasty Stuff with all kind of Health Warnings doh I bought it on Clearance at Ace Hardware .

2zsv2pz.jpg

Here we go usable but I will get them just a bit cleaner nod.gif

21kmg00.jpg

These Heads had some High end Machine Work done to them . And some Port work . For Me I would much rather have them then a Set of Vortecs Ha-biggrin Ya maybe it's that old School Gen-1 Hard Head in me . But these Heads will Rage on Top of a SB Chevy 350 Oh Yeah nod.gif
