This Corvette is the last year of the C2 body style and features what is likely the most desirable engine for the model; an original 427 big-block. It has been sitting since 1977 and has had the wheel arches modified, but it is a ripe candidate for restoration.
This car remains in its original color combo, with the Elkhart blue exterior particularly appropriate for a Midwest example. The Torque-Thrust wheels were a great idea but we wish they had used an offset which didn’t require fender cutting. Four red lamps in the rear is always our favorite on the C2’s.
The interior needs restoration, but the original components are all present. We’ve been having debates lately on whether the stock wheel should remain, or whether an aftermarket wheel should be sourced. The stock one is tough for ingress/egress and feels like a Cadillac unit on a winding road, but it just looks so good…
The engine looks like it was given a new chrome air cleaner but the rest needs major work. With the rust mentioned in the auction description, this one needs removal and total restoration. There is no hope of coaxing this car to be a driver as-is.
I cannot think to leave you now . For that alone I still fight on .
